Spring Recreational League

Rye Girls Softball became affiliated with Little League Softball in 2022.  As such, we adjusted some of our divisions to conform to age limits and Little League guidance.  “League age” is determined by the player’s age as of January 1st.  For example, if your child’s birthday is March 15, 2009, then her “league age” for Spring 2022 will be 12 years old.

Tee Ball (6U):  Players are league age 5 and 6, and typically in Kindergarten or 1st Grade.  For games, players will hit off a tee.

Minor Division Lower (8U):  Players are league age 7 and 8, and typically in 2nd or 3rd grade.

Minor Division Upper (10U):  Players are league age 9 and 10, and typically in 4th or 5th grade.

Major Division (12U):  Players are league age 11 and 12, and typically in 6th or 7th grade.

Junior League (14U):  Players are league age 13 and 14, and typically in 8th or 9th grade.

Note:  Minor or Major players who have demonstrated a high level of skill may request permission to “play up” in a higher division.  These players will be evaluated and placement will be contingent on registration numbers in order to manage roster sizes.

Competitive Travel Teams

Travel Softball

Rye Girls Softball offers a more competitive option for its players which is in addition to their mandatory participation in our Spring Recreational season.  We participate in the Tri-County Softball League, which encompasses club and town travel teams from throughout the Westchester, Putnam and New York City area and attend one or two weekend tournaments. Travel will be primarily in southern Westchester County, though tournaments may be farther away.

Travel ball requires a different commitment level than our Spring Recreational program. All players are expected to attend all practices and games consistently.  A lack of attendance will result in diminished playing time. The goal for Competitive Travel is to field strong travel teams at all levels and we do not guarantee all players will be selected or that players will get equal playing time. You can expect at least 1 practice during the week and a doubleheader on each weekend.

Spring Season:  April - June

Fall Seaon: September to early November
